Teen critical following hit-and-run

St. John's - Police are investigating a hit-and-run Monday evening that left a teenaged boy in critical condition and another being treated for shock.

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary media relations officer Staff Sgt. June Layden said the two boys, ages 15 and 14, were walking along the Bauline Line at roughly 7:30 p.m. when the older teen was struck from behind by a vehicle heading towards Portugal Cove.

Layden described the boy's injuries as life-threatening. There was no update available at press time.

The vehicle fled the scene and anyone who may have witnessed the accident or have information is being asked to call the RNC at 729-8000.

Layden said the vehicle may have sustained damage to the passenger side.
