Take Us Back

The following song was written by the remaining members of Zero Tolerance which was a band Matthew and his buddies had started.  This song was performed at the Leaving Grade 9 Ceremony as a tribute to Matthew.  Musical and lyrical assistance was supplied by Leary's Brook teachers Mr. Cooper and Mr. Keenan.  The song is entitled Take Us Back.  We have included the lyrics below and are hoping to soon have an MP3 or WAV audio format that we will be able to upload.  Please keep checking the site to see when the audio version becomes available.

Take Us Back

Zero Tolerance, 2005

-- intro --

-- verse --

things just aren't the same

the silence can't drown the pain
we feel so lonely without you

I want to be there with you.

-- verse --

Don't see that smile so bright

like the stars shine at night, and
we stand here so cold without you

but what else can we do?

-- pre-chorus --
our memories are strong and they push us to carry on
even though we are here without you, you know we
will always love you

-- chorus --
take us back to the day

when life was nothing but
play when it rains,

you are our sun shining down on everyone

-- verse --
things just seem to change so fast

so we need to make our time here last

full of life a smile so bright

surrounded in the dark of night

your light shines through the dark

to show us the way and

we shall see you another day

-- pre-chorus --
our memories are strong and they push us to carry on
even though we are here without you, you know we
will always love you
